This is a rare Australian Army model manufactured by Jaeger-LeCoultre in the 1940s. It is based on the British Army-issued W.W.W. “Dirty Dozen” watch, but features distinctive characteristics unique to the Australian Army model, such as a case back engraved with only the serial number and fixed spring bars.
The watch is equipped with the beautifully finished Cal. 479 movement, featuring Geneva stripes and gold plating, housed in a robust screw-back waterproof case. The black luminous dial offers excellent legibility, making it a highly practical military-spec timepiece.
As expected from the prestigious Jaeger-LeCoultre, this watch boasts outstanding quality. The natural patina from age enhances its military character, adding to its appeal. While the case has been refinished, it allows for worry-free use without concerns about plating wear, commonly seen in military models. Highly recommended as a functional timepiece.
