This is a rare, unpolished example of the popular "USN BUSHIPS" American military watch manufactured by Elgin in the 1950s.
This military watch was made for the U.S. Navy Special Forces UDT (Underwater Detonation Team). The robust screw back water resistant case with a large screw down cap connected to the middle case is said to have been water resistant to 300 feet (about 100 meters) at the time. The Cal.539 is a gem that will tickle your fancy with its high quality and martial case. The case is in excellent condition with no polishing, and the printed Arabic dial, which is rare in "USN BUSHIPS", seems to be a service dial, but considering the case condition and the current market price, it is a very reasonable price.
