Manufactured in the early 1940s, this is a pristine example of a rare Omega timepiece featuring the Caliber 26.5 movement. It has a stainless steel (SS) case with a diameter of 30mm and is a waterproof model with the uncommon black gilt dial. In contrast to many Caliber 26.5 watches that typically have non-waterproof cases, this one stands out for adopting a screw-back waterproof case.
The inscription on the case back, "MODELE + DEPORSE / WATERPROOF," indicating the waterproof case, shares a robust design common with the waterproof cases of the contemporaneous 33.3 chronograph. Despite its modest 30mm size, the watch captivates beyond its dimensions, showcasing a black gilt dial with a rainbow-like oil film and a beautiful gloss. This unique combination creates a presence that surpasses its size, making it a standout piece.
